Window Film Security & Safety Film
Security window film is a thick, multi-layer film bonded to your glass, so when a pane is struck the broken pieces stay stuck to the film instead of falling into the room. That slows a break-in and keeps shards off the floor. It does not make glass unbreakable.
Safety and security window film comes in thicknesses (4, 8 and 14 mil). The thinnest holds broken glass together to reduce injury, while the thicker security grades make a pane slower to break through. We install Tekton's Fortis line across Niagara and match the grade to the glass and the risk.
How security & safety film works.
Security film works by how firmly it sticks and how thick it is. Bonded to the pane, it holds cracked glass together instead of dropping loose shards, which is why it is also sold as shatter-resistant or anti-shatter window film. Tekton builds Fortis 4 to reduce injury from shattered glass, Fortis 8 to slow a break-in, and Fortis 14 to withstand repeated impact. It does not stop glass breaking, make ordinary glass code-rated safety glass under the Ontario Building Code, or fix a weak frame or lock. Tekton documents no frame attachment for Fortis, so we say plainly when the frame or pane is the weak point.

Slows a break-in
Tekton builds its thicker Fortis 8 to slow a break-in and Fortis 14 to withstand repeated impact. It slows a smash-and-grab. It does not stop a determined intruder.
Stays clear
Tekton rates clear Fortis 8 and 14 as letting in 87% of daylight on single pane glass and 79% on double pane, so the view barely changes.
UV blocked
Tekton rates every Fortis grade as blocking over 99% of UV, so clear security film also slows fading on floors and fabric.
Security plus heat blocking
Clear security film does little for heat: Tekton rates Fortis 8 as blocking 17% of the sun's total energy on single pane (listed as TSER). Fortis 8 Silver Reflective 20 blocks 78%, and Fortis 8 Neutral 35 blocks 55%.
Warrantied by film type
Warrantied by film type: lifetime residential, 15-year commercial. Tekton's own warranty covers only film installed by authorized dealers in good standing.
